Randy Faustino is as seasoned a veteran as you will find in the music industry. He toured the country for 17 years with such acts as Frank Sinatra, Jeffrey Osborne and Tower Of Power before “settling down” to work stints at Osborne’s studio, Wings West, and later at Echo Recording. With the help of J. Mark King, Faustino then turned his decades of experience at getting the right sound quickly and with a minimum of fuss to the demanding world of television sound. He has worked on a huge number of shows, including the Academy of Country Music Awards, the Golden Globe Awards, Jimmy Kimmel Live and many, many others. In 2007, he formed Creative Sound Solutions with Gerald “Butch” McKarge and J. Mark King to provide high-caliber music mixing services for the television industry. The company has since mixed American Idol, one of the most consistently high-rated programs in television history, and a host of Idol-inspired shows, including The Next Great American Band, Rock Star, and, most recently, MTV’s new show, Rock The Cradle! |

PEARL, a name all together fresh and rooted in rock ‘n’ roll history, is flying onto the music scene breaking the social traditions that have become the U.S. rock norm. Headed up by the whiskey soaked voice of Pearl Aday, daughter of music icon Meat Loaf, this album will smash through the anonymity and secure her rightful place in rock history. |

We all know that the record business is in major transition, has been for a few years now. Still, major labels and independent labels are trying to figure out what the new model is. But the real problem with most labels is that they still want to be in 'big business'. This is the first real issue labels have got to deal with. Because CD sales are on the downturn, record labels are cutting back on staff (hence the EMI shake up recently). But I have my own opinion about this. I firmly believe any existing record label that has an office staff on salary is now doomed to fail. And the old model where labels had one or two successful acts in order to 'fund' 80% of their other failed acts, absolutely needs to go. Any label existing today thinking that this is something that even has a chance of working has its days numbered. |
